Sedation Options for Young or Apprehensive Children
If your child requires sedation for dental treatment, there are a several options available at the office. The staff and doctors carefully consider age, patient cooperation, any special needs, and total treatment expectations prior to suggesting a sedation modality. It is important that parents understand the advantages and limitations of any choosing sedation option.
“Laughing gas” or nitrous oxide is an inhaled air that is very useful to calm anxious, school-aged children. “Oral conscious sedation” utilizes a liquid pre-medication to lightly sedate young children for short or emergency procedures. “Deep sedation” will allow children to be completely asleepand comfortable during their dental procedures.
The doctors and staff can evaluate these available options at a consultation appointment.
In January 2017, we opened the doors to our Surgery Center facility annex around the corner in the St. Jude Medical Building on Beach Blvd. Our Surgery Center was built to accomodate the growing needs of our young and special needs patients due to the limited access to proper hospital dentistry services. The Surgery Center is open Monday and Friday by appointment only. We may be able to utilize your medical insurance benefits. Please contact us for more information.
